Hoover Windtunnel valve door won't open

My Hoover Windtunnel valve door won''t open fully causing poor suction. If I pull on the valve arm it opens, but I''m not sure what causes it to open. I think it''s just the suction, but I''m no expert. Please help. Thanks.
