Riccar Vacuum quit working while using. Changed the bag and checked the belt. The belt was off, so I put it on again. This was a pretty new belt so knew it should be OK. When I turned on the vacuum, there was a strong burning rubber smell, so I turned it off and checked the belt again. The belt was again off, and had a spot where the rubber was almost burnt through. Changed the belt, turned it on and now it just keeps popping off. Do you know what the problem could be? I have installed the belt many times before and never had a problem.-Thanks, Deb

Hello Deb,

The first thing I would try, would be to change the brushroll for your Riccar N2000. Typically the brushroll can be slightly bent or the bearings on the edges of the brushroll slightly worn, or both. When that happens it is going to put added strain on the belt, which means it will continuously burn the belts up or pop them off. Also make sure that when putting the belt on that you turn the brushroll for a few revolutions so the belt can be lined up for its correct path of travel.

Please try these suggestions and let us know if this information helped.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
