Yes, you certainly may purchase the cord reel unit, and with a little bit of mechanical skills it can be done by you. It''s always best to take in the machine to an authorized Miele dealer to work on internal parts however, as they are more knowledgeable, and are specifically trained to work on your vacuum cleaner.
