I have a question regarding my Miele Vacuum. The other day, while vacuuming, I bumped something metal on my rug while vacuuming and a huge bolt of static electricity zapped my vacuum. Now it does turn on and we have tested all of the electrical connections and they are all fine. The power bar switches on the hose do not light up or work. Tested them with DVOM and shows they are fine. The power brush was NOT connected at the time of the Shock/surge, however it does not turn on. Do you think that it might be the transformer? What do you think it might be since all of the electrical connections tested just fine? Thanks for any help that you may have!!

Hi,

Thanks for the great question. The Blue Moon (and it''s sister the Silver Moon) have had some major issues with this exact problem. When Miele first came out with this model, it was the first model that had the controls in the handle of the machine. Miele, I guess did not put static electricity into the design of this hose, and it was causing a similarproblem as you are experiencing, but usually the static electricity would just cause the hose to turn the power all the way down to 0, but usually you could turn the machine back on by increasing the power again.

On the current hose you have, does it have the numbers of the wattage next to the LED display on the lights? Meaning when you increase, and decrease the power on the hose, are there numbers next to each setting? If so, is the highest power 1100, or 1200?

To this day if I have a customer come in with this problem on the hose, Miele will still to this day exchange the hose for the new, redesigned one at no charge no matter how old the vacuum is. You should be able to go into your local dealer, and have them give you a new SES125-3 electric hose for your vacuum at no charge under Miele''s warranty.

My guess is that your hose has gone bad, and a new hose should fix the problem. If this does not fix the problem, you most likely have a bad circuit board inside the machine. You can test this by taking the hose completely off of the vacuum cleaner, and after the hose has been removed, try turning the vacuum cleaner on. Does the vacuum come on without the hose? If yes, your problem is DEFINTIELY going to be the hose in the machine, if no, you may have some more serious issues then just the hose.

I hope this helped, please feel free to reply to this email, or just give us a call if you have any further questions.
